I plugged this MacBook Pro in to charge for an hour or two, and then went through the initial setup. I’m not big on the whole un-boxing trend, I like to open, unpack, plug in and play with my toys. So I pulled the trigger a bought the 13" 8GB MacBook Pro with 512GB storage (from my toys and gadgets budget since I didn’t upgrade my phone this year). Add to this that for the past few years I’ve been using either Microsoft Surface Pro’s or Surface Books (the Pro is just not lap friendly, you have to use it at a desk)… I was keen on getting a light, long lasting, USB-C only laptop (if a device doens’t have USB-C today, I will skip it). The form factor, the promise of 20 hours of battery life, curiosity around ARM based OS and software and it’s viability as a business platform, all peaked my interest. When I looked at it on Amazon, I was again surprised at the relatively low price of their new MacBook Pro line based on the M1. That and of course, the undeniable beautifl package it comes in. Apple is doing some interesting things, although I still hate their closed eco-system and limited integration with anything not Apple.īut something that caught my eye was the new MacBooks based on M1 (Apple’s own silicon processor), and the claims of 20 hour battery life. Microsoft is embracing everyone and all platforms (Linux, Apple, open source, etc). The key takeaway here is at that time (8-10 years ago), it was really impossible to work and be productive.Īt lot has changed since then. And it has lasted to this day, although it’s beginning to show its age (battery has died). However, it quickly became a tool I used at home only, tinkering with Xcode for iOS app development (didn’t get very far), but it was, and still is, a beautiful device. It was all the rage, and I’m and hands-on type of person that will form conclusions based on my own experiences. Several years ago I bought myself a MacBook Pro (still have it) and gave it a good shot as this at the time was the most beautifully crafted device I had ever touched. I’m a power user, and use many business applications that largely only run on Windows. I’ve used Windows since the dawn of the Windows era. People found guilty of sharing illegally downloaded music faced hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines. Swanson also said that the events surrounding Z-Library are similar to those surrounding music piracy in the 2000s in the “pre-Spotify” world. “There is a minimum that is the damage award per copy made. “ also provides for something called ‘statutory damages’ where you don’t have to prove what the economic loss is,” Swanson said. The pair may face severe consequences and heavy fines if found guilty, according to Kara Swanson, a professor at the Northeastern School of Law who specializes in copyright law and intellectual property, among other topics. Its alleged founders, 33-year-old Anton Napolsky and 27-year-old Valeriia Ermakova, were recently arrested and charged in Argentina. “I thought that both of the things I downloaded wouldn’t be on my laptop, and I need them for class,” Roche said.Īlthough the website helped its users to save money and still finish their homework, Z-Library was in violation of multiple copyright laws. Some Northeastern students were concerned that they would lose access to PDFs that they had downloaded prior to the shutdown. “This just only makes it harder for them.” “Textbooks are really expensive, so low-income students are at a disadvantage already,” Roche said. Many of Z-Library’s users have taken to social media to express their disappointment over its demise, with some coping with humor and others blaming TikTok users for bringing more attention to the site.Ĭollege students in Boston expressed their disappointment after hearing about the website’s shutdown, including Quinn Roche, a second-year history and political science combined major, who pointed out how the end of Z-Library may impact students who cannot afford expensive textbooks. In a 2014 study, 65% of college students said they didn’t purchase their required textbooks even though they knew it could hurt their grade. The average cost of a college textbook is about $105, a price that is difficult to justify for a majority of college students. The website’s closure left many college students in a panic, as it offered millions of e-books, including textbooks, and academic journals for free. Z-Library, a database for pirated e-books, shut down Nov. No refresh rate cap on the main/gaming rig.Capture any resolution size and increase or decrease the resolution size.Recording and streaming in high quality at the same time.No performance impact on your main/gaming rig. Here is where I stumbled upon NDI for OBS it removes all restrictions I have with a capture card and allows for much better fine-tuning of your whatever you want to capture. However, I went back to the web trying to find some way I can capture footage and have more freedom doing so. And you still have to run software from your main pc besides this requires resources it also means capturing in-game means you can not alt-tab as it will cut the feed and displays your captured desktop. My main monitor is a 1440p 165hz refresh rate and the capture card locks the refresh rate to 60hz and the Duplicate Desktop option also generates problems on its own. This will be a quick run down to record and stream without the need for a capture card. Streaming directly from your gaming rig without a capture card will result in performance loss in a game. While initially, I was looking to buy a capture card the end result was disappointing. OBS and NDI streaming and recording tutorial. Personally Identifiable Information (PII).Sensitive data includes the following privileged information – original or copied: Sensitive data is any confidential information that requires permission to access. Over 20 years ago, USB flash drives, also known as thumb drives, were regarded as a breakthrough in portable data storage technology. WDigest has been disabled by default in Windows 8.1, Server 2012 R2, and all operating systems thereafter. The security concern with this protocol is that it stores the clear-text password in memory to be used during the session. WDigest is a now legacy challenge/response protocol that was used in Windows Server 2003 for LDAP and web authentication. The reason clear-text credentials can be pulled from Local Security Authority Subsystem Service (LSASS) is generally because of WDigest. With an offensive objective in mind, what attacker wouldn’t want to get their hands on clear – text passwords ? F or older hosts runni ng Windows 7, 8, Server 2008, and Server 2012, a key co nfiguration that enables someone to achieve clear – text passwords is not disabled by default. DISABLE CLEAR-TEXT PASSWORDS IN MEMORY FROM WDIGEST In Part 1 of the Credential Dumping Series, I took a closer look at vulnerabilities within Windows authentication and credential management and explained why these are prime targets for attackers in this post, I’ll walk you through some of the protective measures your organization can take to mitigate Windows credential theft. However, this is only a piece of the bigger picture of the Windows credential model. Credential theft is part of almost all attacks within a network, and one of the most widely known forms of credential stealing is surrounding clear-text credentials by accessing lsass.exe. FM 7 mobile conduit seems to routinely loose track of the desktop databases and the link needs to be reset constantly. My configuration is 10.3.5 dual 1.25GHz MDD G4 desktop, Palm OS 5.2.1 on a Clie TJ 25. I should have stayed with FileMaker 6!"Īnother reader corroborates "I'm seeing the same behavior. "This is definitely a serious problem - rendering Mobile 7 completely unusable - Incidentally I had absolutely no problem with FileMaker 6 / Mobile 2.1 (on 10.3.4). "The first time I attempted to sync databases it corrupted my whole user folder - got that fixed and then tried again - got same kernel panic. MacFixIt reader Craig describes the issue in more detail: "I am also experiencing the same problem trying to download database files from Mac G4 Sawtooth - OS X 10.3.4, FileMaker 7 / Mobile 7 to Treo 600, I am running Palm Desktop 4.1. We've since received some notes of confirmation as well as discovered some potential workarounds. Yesterday we reported that for some users, Filemaker Mobile 7 seems to consistently causes system crashes when the user is attempting to synchronize or download any database to a Palm device.
